The old days of cold calling vs. inbound now feel like two different careers
I started at a small agency back in 2012 in Phoenix, and basically all we did was buy lists and dial. I remember sitting in a cramped office with 3 other people, chugging coffee, and just grinding through 80 calls a day. You'd maybe get one decent conversation out of that, and if you were lucky, a client after 3 months of follow ups. Now I'm at a different agency and it's almost all inbound through content and SEO. We write blog posts and optimize Google Ads, and people come to us. It's way less draining, but sometimes I miss the weird stories you'd get from cold calling. Has anyone else felt like the skill set you built back then is basically useless now, or do you still use some of that old hustle? I'm curious if younger people in the industry even know what a cold call feels like.
