I always thought rice cookers were a waste of counter space... until my neighbor let me borrow hers for a week. That $12 model from the Asian market cooked perfect rice every time, no watching the pot or burning the bottom. Now I use it for oatmeal, steamed veggies, even hard boiled eggs... saves me on gas since I'm not running the stove for 30 minutes.
