Vent: the $3 rotisserie chicken at my local market got me through a rough month
Last month money got tight after my car needed a $400 repair, so I started buying the $3 rotisserie chicken from the market on 5th Street every Sunday. A retired guy named Harold saw me grabbing one and told me he's been doing that for 8 years since his wife passed and it keeps his grocery bill under $50 a week. He showed me how he pulls all the meat off, makes broth from the bones, and gets 4 meals out of one bird, which honestly never crossed my mind before. I tried it and stretched one chicken into chicken salad, soup, and two dinners for my kids. It's not fancy but it works when you're broke and tired. Has anyone else found a cheap staple like that they lean on when money gets tight?

I used to roll my eyes at those store chickens, figured they were just lazy food for people who can't cook. Had a buddy show me the 4 meals trick last winter and I felt like an idiot for all the years I passed them up. That Harold guy is a legend for passing it on.
