Always thought TiVo was just another DVR until I found one at a thrift store for $8

I picked up this old TiVo Series 2 at Goodwill in Portland last month on a whim. The thing looked like it had been through a war, but for 8 bucks I figured why not. Hooked it up to my old CRT in the garage and man, the interface is still so smooth and simple. I had to call my buddy to help me find a way to still get guide data, which is a whole thing, but now I use it every day when I'm cleaning my bike or just tinkering. The skip button alone is way better than any modern streaming app I've tried. Has anyone else found a weird old gadget that actually became your daily driver? I'm curious what other stuff holds up like this.
