That moment your dog hears you opening a cheese wrapper from 3 rooms away

My cattle dog bolted through the kitchen, slid into the cabinet, and ended up with her head stuck in a mixing bowl all because I crinkled a single slice of cheddar at 7pm last Tuesday, has anyone else’s pet ever gotten trapped mid-snack quest?

Mine’s a beagle mix, so the nose leads and the brain follows right into trouble. Last week she dove headfirst into a chip bag and wore it like a helmet for a solid minute, just sniffing around the kitchen blind. The snack quest is real, but the landing is usually what gets them, not the chase.

12 seconds is my personal record for my lab mix detecting a cheese drawer from a closed fridge on the second floor. It's wild how their brain just locks onto one thing and the rest of the world disappears, like they're running a single-track mission with no brakes. That total focus is probably why they end up in those spots - the bowl, the cabinet, the trash can - because the snack is all that matters until physics hits.
