Old phone vs new phone for cat photos

I used to try getting my skittish tabby to pose with my old iPhone 6 and it was just blurry motion streaks every time. Upgraded to a Pixel 6a last year and the shutter speed finally catches his derpy tongue-out mid-yawn moments. Has anyone else noticed a huge jump just from a newer camera sensor?
