Used to book hostels and coworking spaces weeks in advance, now I just show up in a city and figure it out after I get there
After three years of this lifestyle I stopped planning everything down to the last detail because I was spending more time organizing my calendar than actually working, and has anyone else noticed that being too rigid makes you miss the best local spots?

Oh man, I totally disagree with you here. Look, I get that you want a safety net but finding a bed last minute is part of the adventure (and honestly way easier than people think with apps and walking around). I'd rather wander into a random neighborhood and stumble on a hidden gem than be stuck in some overly recommended tourist zone because a blog told me to book it three weeks ago. The stress of "hassle" you mention is nothing compared to the stress of sticking to a plan that doesn't even fit the vibe of the city once you're actually there. You're basically trading spontaneity for a fake sense of control, and that kills the whole point of being a nomad in the first place.

Last time I tried the "wander and find a gem" approach I ended up in a hostel 45 minutes from anything with bedbugs and a guy snoring like a lawnmower in the next bunk. Spent my first morning on Google Maps finding somewhere else instead of exploring. A 10 minute booking the night before wouldve saved me that headache.

Whoa, hold on. You're mixing up two different things. Planning your calendar and planning your trip aren't the same thing. I get being sick of micromanaging every hour of the day, but showing up with zero plan is just trading one hassle for another. You end up spending way more time hunting for a bed or a desk when you could've spent ten minutes the night before. Plus, "best local spots" are a gamble if you have no idea what neighborhood you're even in. A loose plan gives you freedom, not a straitjacket.
