Tried a 'work from anywhere' week in a small Greek village and it was a total disaster

I figured a quiet island spot with cheap rent would be perfect for focus. I booked a place in a village on Naxos for a week, paying about 400 euros. The first day, the power went out for six hours. My mobile hotspot, which I paid extra for, barely got one bar of signal. I missed two client calls because the internet just died. I learned that 'quiet' can mean 'completely cut off' and that my backup plans weren't good enough. I had to drive 45 minutes to the main town just to send an email. Has anyone else had a remote work setup fail because you trusted a place's online listing too much? What's your rule for checking real connectivity before you go?

Power out for six hours" is just brutal... I can't imagine losing a whole workday like that. Your backup plans really did fall apart. That's a tough way to learn the hard way about checking connectivity.

Honestly, six hours is nothing, some places lose power for days. Backup plans are overrated if the main system is solid.
