The guy in the Chiang Mai cafe who roasted my whole setup

I was working at this tiny coffee place near the old city, trying to get through some tickets before lunch. This older British guy sat down next to me and asked what I did. When I told him IT support, he laughed and said 'So you're just fixing printers in different time zones then.' It was such a perfect burn because I had literally spent the last hour on the phone with a client about a paper jam. He then showed me this beat up ThinkPad with duct tape on the hinge and said it had survived 12 countries. Made me realize I was way too precious about my gear. Anyone else get called out by some random nomad in a way that actually stuck with you?

Oh totally, that's what I was thinking too! It's like once you actually stop and look at the whole picture, it makes so much more sense. People get so caught up in the little details (and I'm guilty of that too, for sure) that they miss the bigger point. And yeah, that's why I think the original comment was spot on - it cuts through all the noise and gets to the heart of it. It's just a good reminder to step back sometimes before jumping to conclusions. Like, take a breath and think about what's really going on, you know?
