PSA: I keep seeing people in Medellin cafes working on unsecured public Wi-Fi without a VPN, which is just asking for trouble.

After my friend in Lisbon had his freelance platform account drained of $2,300 last year from a simple coffee shop session, I realized how many folks treat basic digital security as optional... so what's your non-negotiable safety step when you work from somewhere new?

Ever check for fake login pages first, @jamiemiller?

Honestly, watching people type passwords on that free airport Wi-Fi is like watching someone lick a subway pole... just a bold choice. My non-negotiable is a VPN, but I also turn off file sharing and pretend every network is run by a guy in a trench coat selling fake Rolexes. That $2 for a coffee doesn't include identity theft protection.
