Overheard a guy at a coworking space in Chiang Mai say his whole life is 'optimized'

He was talking to someone about how he schedules his laundry pickup, meal prep, and even his social time down to the minute. Then his laptop died because he forgot to charge it, and he had a mini meltdown trying to find an outlet. Has anyone else found that trying to optimize everything just makes you more stressed when something small goes wrong?

Ran into a guy at a climbing gym who had his entire training schedule color coded in a spreadsheet. He pulled it up to show me and his phone died mid swipe. Spent the next ten minutes muttering about cloud backups while I just did my usual haphazard routine. Sometimes the perfect system is just a bigger headache waiting to happen.

Holy crap, the phone died mid swipe? That is genuinely the funniest possible timing for that to happen. I can't believe that guy had his whole life on a spreadsheet and didn't even have the thing backed up properly. Like you plan everything down to the color of each cell but can't save a file to the cloud? That's just asking for a disaster. Meanwhile you're just climbing without any of that drama and probably having a better time anyway.
