My mentor told me to stop chasing cheap coliving spaces in Bali
I kept booking those $200/month rooms in Canggu because everyone raves about them. After 3 months of bad WiFi and moldy AC units, I finally listened and spent $450 on a proper place in Ubud. Has anyone else found that going cheap on housing kills your productivity?

Hey, have you actually tried one of those cheap places or just heard stories? I lived in a $250 room in Canggu for six months and my WiFi was solid enough for video calls, plus the AC just needed a basic clean to stop the mold. The real problem isn't the price tag, it's how much time you spend in your room. I was out surfing, coworking at a cafe, or hiking every day, so a perfect apartment felt like a waste of cash. Spending more on housing might feel productive, but for me it was the opposite - it trapped me inside staring at my laptop instead of getting stuff done in the real world.

My cheap room had a "quirky" AC that leaked water directly onto my laptop. Guess who got a surprise swim lesson while on a Zoom call. Sometimes you pay for insulation from your own bad luck.
