Lost my Wi-Fi for 3 days in a Lisbon co-living space

I was working from a co-living spot in Lisbon last week and the router just died on Tuesday morning. I had to camp out at a cafe for 2 full days while the host sorted a replacement. Has anyone else dealt with a sudden internet outage killing their work day?

A buddy of mine lost internet for a full week in Medellin because the building's wiring shorted out in a storm. He just bought a big local data plan and worked from hammocks near the pool the whole time. The "office with a view" part was nice, but he said getting real work done was a struggle.

Ugh, that's brutal. Had the same thing happen in Bali last year (a power surge fried the modem). I ended up grabbing a local SIM with a huge data plan just for my laptop hotspot (like 50GB for cheap). Also started checking the co-working space listings on Google Maps before panic booking a cafe (some have terrible upload speeds). Now I keep a prepaid eSIM as a backup specifically for this kind of disaster.
