That Tuesday in July when three jobs fell apart before noon
I had a day back in 2022 that still makes me wince when I think about it. Showed up to a tile backsplash at 7am and the homeowner had changed the layout overnight without telling me. Drove twenty minutes to a drywall patch and found out the leak was still active from the roof. Called the guy who booked me and he said "just do what you can" while I'm standing in dripping water. Packed up by 10:30 and went home because the third job texted me they had a family emergency. Lost about $400 that day between gas and lost wages. The worst part was sitting in my truck eating a cold sandwich wondering if I picked the wrong line of work. You guys ever have a day where the universe just says nope?

A cold sandwich in a truck at 10:30am sounds rough but it's one bad day, not a whole career. I've had way worse mornings that turned around by dinner time. Three things falling apart before noon is just Tuesday in this line of work, not the universe sending you a sign. Maybe take the L and move on instead of turning it into some big life crisis.

I just ate my cold lunch in the truck and reminded myself tomorrow is a fresh start.
