Pro tip: that tile saw blade from the hardware store is probably dull before you even open the box
Picked up a brand new blade at Lowe's last Friday for a backsplash job in Arlington, and after 12 cuts it was burning through porcelain like I was using a butter knife, had to drive 30 minutes to a real tool supply place for a decent blade that actually lasted the whole job - has anyone else noticed the box store blades going downhill this year?

Same problem with their sandpaper and saw blades lately. Feels like every hardware chain is pushing cheaper stock that looks good on the shelf but dies on the first real job.

Man, that's brutal... 12 cuts and already toast? I would have been fuming. @james533 hit the nail on the head about the sandpaper too, I grabbed a pack of their 80 grit last month and it was basically useless after sanding one piece of pine. Feels like they're cutting corners on everything now just to save a few cents on materials. The real tool supply places are probably loving it though, getting all the return customers who finally wised up to the junk from the big boxes. I've started ordering blades from a specialty place online just to avoid the hassle of driving around town for a decent tool.
