Pro tip: double check the exact model number before you buy a replacement part online

I needed a new motor for a specific model of industrial fan at a site I was managing. Found what I thought was the right one for $240, waited three days for shipping, and then spent half a Saturday swapping it out. The thing hummed but wouldn't spin. Turns out the model number was off by one letter, and the mounting bracket was totally different. Had to eat the cost and order the correct part, so that's $240 and a weekend morning gone. Anyone else have a story about a tiny detail that cost them big?

The mounting bracket mismatch was the real killer.

Ugh, that's the worst. Did the wrong part at least look good sitting there, mocking you?
