My Milwaukee M12 impact driver just gave up after 4 years on a job in Phoenix

I mean, the thing just stopped turning yesterday while I was putting up some decking. It wasn't the battery, I checked. It was a solid tool, so I'm a bit surprised. Has anyone else had an M12 konk out on them, and did you bother fixing it or just replace it?

Was it making a weird noise first? Mine started whining like a dog in the sun before it quit for good, same deal with the heat. I just tossed it and got a new one, wasn't worth the hassle.

Logan's got a point about the heat. That Arizona sun bakes the grease right out of the gears and cooks the motor windings. Four years is a good run out there. My buddy tried fixing his, but the replacement armature alone was half the cost of a new kit.

Four years in Phoenix heat? That thing didn't konk out, it retired. It saw another summer coming and just laid down its little motor. Mine quit after a similar desert bake, and fixing it cost almost as much as a new one. I buried mine in the toolbox as a warning to the other tools.
