Just blew $400 on a 'pro' chat script that ended up being useless

It promised to automate client quotes but couldn't handle basic follow-up questions, so I had to scrap it after a week. What's a better way to manage those initial contractor chats without wasting cash?

Ugh! Try a simple template you can copy-paste first.

I've been through this exact thing maybe 20 times now. Templates are great for getting past that blank page fear, but you gotta treat them like training wheels, not the bike itself. What worked for me was taking a simple 3-part template - problem, solution, result - and just swapping the details until I understood the flow. After doing that 3 or 4 times, I started seeing the pattern and could write my own from scratch. The key is to keep the template handy but force yourself to write at least one original sentence each time. Eventually you won't need the template at all. That's when you're actually learning instead of just copying.

Actually, a template can be a trap. You just copy the structure without really getting why it works. Better to start from a blank page and write one terrible sentence. Then fix that.
