I burned out a 4.5 inch hole saw cutting one door slab and it taught me a lesson about pilot bits
Last Tuesday I was hanging three solid core oak doors in a house out in Burleson and killed the saw on the second hole because I was running it wide open with no pilot bit. Slowed the drill to half speed and drilled the guide hole first on the third door, and it cut like butter in about 90 seconds. Is there any reason to ever skip the pilot hole on solid core, or was I just being lazy?
