Homeowner's ancient grout turned my moral compass

Retiling a backsplash and the owner handed me a box of grout from the 80s. It was hard as a rock but they swore it would mix fine, saving them fifty bucks. Ever been tempted to use questionable materials to keep customers happy?

Remember that time I tried to mix decade-old caulk? Let's just say ray_king would've fired me on the spot lol. My "fix" lasted about a week.

I'd never risk my reputation over fifty bucks, that stuff fails!

Exactly! A cheap fix that fails just costs more to redo later. Your rep is worth way more than saving a few bucks up front.
