The quiet day my saw blade wandered off its line and taught me about tension
I was breaking down a small hog last Tuesday morning at my bench in Asheville, and my band saw started cutting a curve to the left maybe a quarter inch off my mark. I checked the blade guide and it was fine, so I backed off and felt the tension gauge, which read about 80 percent of what it should. I cranked the tension up to the right spot and the very next cut ran dead straight like nothing had happened. Turns out I had been running it loose for maybe a month and just did not notice because the cuts still got the job done. What do you all use as your go-to check for blade tension on a bandsaw?
