Boning knife handle trick after two months of wrist pain
I kept getting a sore wrist from breaking down pork shoulders on Saturdays at the shop. Tried different grips, even switched to a lighter blade, nothing helped much. Then one of the older guys told me to wrap the handle with hockey tape, just two layers, and build up the end a bit. That extra thickness changed the angle my wrist sits at and the pain faded in about a week. Anyone else tried adjusting handle thickness instead of just swapping knives?
Funny how often the fix is changing the tool's shape instead of swapping the tool. Same thing happens with pens if your hand cramps up, people buy a whole new set when a foam grip would've done it. My mom fixed her knee pain by raising her desk chair an inch, not by getting a new chair. There's something to that old guy wisdom. Tiny changes to how your body meets the object beat big changes to the object itself.
