Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to stop wasting food you already bought
Honestly I spent about 3 months throwing away half the veggies I bought every week before I figured out the real problem. It wasn't that I bought too much, it was that I never planned what to cook with them until they were already going soft in the drawer. I started spending 10 minutes every Sunday writing down 3 meals using whatever I already had, and now I toss maybe $8 worth of food a month instead of $40. Last week I made a big pot of soup from carrots and celery that were 5 days old and it came out fine. The trick was just cooking them before they hit that slimy stage, not waiting for inspiration. Anyone else got a system for using up stuff before it goes bad?
