Whole chickens turned out to be my budget meal hero
I only got chicken pieces because they were fast to cook. After checking prices, I learned a whole bird costs way less. I roast it, eat the meat for days, and boil the bones for soup. This routine saves me a good chunk of money each month.

Do you have a go-to seasoning for your roast chicken? I do the exact same thing, buy two birds at a time. I'll roast one right away for dinners, then chop up and freeze the other one raw for quick meals later. The stock from the bones is the best part, makes the whole kitchen smell amazing.

That stock smell really is the best part, it makes the whole house feel like a home. Funny how @hernandez.barbara sees it as extra work, but for me that's where a lot of the real flavor and value comes from. It's like the difference between just eating and actually cooking, you know? Do you find yourself doing that with other meats too, or is chicken your main thing for stock?

It's just chicken though. All that extra work for stock seems like a lot. Garlic powder and salt work fine.
