That cheap block of cheddar I bought at Aldi last Tuesday turned into a total mess
I grabbed a $3.50 block of store brand sharp cheddar to save money for my weekly mac and cheese, but it crumbled apart when I tried to grate it for the kids dinner. Ended up with clumpy dry shreds that refused to melt smooth and ruined the whole dish. Anyone else find that spending a dollar more on a better brand actually saves you from a wasted meal?

Oh yeah I used to be the queen of grabbing the cheapest block thinking it was all the same. Definitely changed my mind after a similar experience with some shredded cheese that turned into this weird rubbery mess. Now I'll spend the extra buck on the mid tier store brand because the texture is totally different when it melts. Learned that lesson the hard way after ruining two batches of nachos in one week. The cheap stuff just doesn't behave the same way in the pan.

Two batches of nachos in one week? That's rookie numbers, I ruined three batches of mac and cheese before I figured out the cheap stuff turns into plastic.
