Shoutout to the bag of frozen veggies that saved my grocery budget
I kept throwing out half the fresh produce I bought every week, which was basically throwing money in the trash. Last month in Austin I started buying those big 2 pound bags of frozen mixed vegetables for about $2 each instead. I toss a handful into whatever I'm cooking, rice, soup, even scrambled eggs, and nothing goes to waste anymore. Has anyone else found that frozen stuff actually works better for certain meals than fresh?

The frozen veggie bag is the only thing in my freezer that doesn't judge me for eating cereal for dinner three nights in a row. I used to buy fresh broccoli with big plans, then watch it turn into a science experiment in the crisper drawer. Now I just dump a handful of mixed peas and carrots into my ramen and call it a balanced meal. Honestly, my cooking skills haven't improved, but my trash can is a lot less sad.
