Rant: People keep buying pre-cut veggies and calling it budget cooking

I see it all the time in meal prep groups. Someone posts their "budget" haul and it's $4 bags of pre-chopped onions and $5 shredded cheese. That stuff costs double what whole blocks and whole veggies do. Last week at Aldi on Belmont Ave I saw a whole bag of carrots for $1.29 versus a bag of baby carrots for $3.49. You can dice a carrot in 30 seconds with a sharp knife. The upcharge for convenience is wild and it adds up fast, like $20 extra per cart. Am I the only one who feels like this defeats the whole purpose of budgeting?

Wait, are you sure those Aldi baby carrots were $3.49? I just bought a bag there last week and it was like $1.99.

My buddy Mike literally ran into this last week at the Aldi on 42nd street. He grabbed a bag of their organic baby carrots and it rang up at $3.49 at the register, but the regular ones were still like $1.99 right next to them on the shelf. He didn't even notice they were different until he checked the receipt later and was so mad about it lol. So yeah it definitely depends on which bag you grab, the organic ones are way more expensive now.
