My freezer door wasnt sealing right, started using a rolled up towel to keep it closed

It was costing me about $20 extra a month on my electric bill. The freezer would frost up and I had to throw out a bag of frozen veggies that got soft. The towel trick works fine until I can get a new fridge. Anybody else have a janky fix thats been working longer than it should?

Know a friend who duct taped their freezer shut for 6 months.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. My parents had this ancient fridge in their garage that would not close unless you shoved a folded up dishrag between the door and the shelf. That thing ran for like three years like that, no joke. The ice buildup was insane, you had to chip it out with a screwdriver every few months. Definitely cost more in power but hey, it worked.
