My cheap rice cooker finally gave up mid-meal last night

I was making dinner for my roommate and me, and the thing just stopped heating halfway through. $15 from a thrift store in Portland lasted about 6 months before it died. Had to finish the rice in a pot on the stove and it came out all mushy. Anyone found a decent rice cooker under $30 that actually lasts more than a year?

Did you read that wirecutter article about the Aroma rice cooker being a tank?

Yeah, "a tank" is probably right. Ive had mine for like 5 years and it still makes rice that tastes fine, even if I forget to rinse it half the time. But honestly, I could probably drop the thing down the stairs and it would still cook a perfect batch, say my cooking skills are more delicate than the cooker itself.

Ngl that sucks but at least it was just a rice cooker and not like your fridge or something lol. Mushy rice is annoying sure, but you still ate dinner.
