I tried dried beans from the bulk bin over canned for a month and my grocery bill dropped $40
I was buying 6 cans of black beans a week at $1.29 each and it was eating my budget alive, so last month I finally tried the bulk bin at the grocery store down the street from my place in Fresno. A 2 lb bag of dried beans cost me $2.89 and it made the same amount as about 8 cans once soaked and cooked. The soaking part took some getting used to, I do it overnight before bed and just let them sit, but the taste is way better and I can season the pot however I want. Has anyone else made the switch and got tips for keeping them from drying out when I freeze the extras?
