I finally figured out how to save a giant pot of soup after I accidentally dumped a whole jar of salt in it

It's wild how many cooking disasters are just a potato away from being fixed lol.

Remember that time I oversalted a soup? I just tossed in a peeled potato and let it simmer for a bit, and it actually worked! It soaked up so much of the extra salt.

Oh, I have to respectfully disagree on this one, @oliver_ward14. I've tried the potato trick a few times and honestly, it never worked as well as I hoped. The potato soaks up some salt, sure, but it also soaks up flavor and makes your soup taste a bit watery or starchy. Plus you lose a good chunk of the potato in the process. If I oversalt, I find it's way better to just add more liquid or dump in a can of no-salt tomatoes or broth. Sometimes you just have to accept the soup is a little salty that night and learn from it.
