Hot take: I stopped using expensive protein powder and started eating eggs for breakfast instead
I used to spend like $50 a month on those big tubs of whey protein. Thought I needed it to hit my macros after workouts. Then about 3 months ago my grocery budget got tight and I started hard boiling a dozen eggs every Sunday. 2 eggs for breakfast costs maybe 40 cents compared to a scoop of that powder which was like $1.50 each. And honestly I feel fuller longer and my recovery seems the same. My buddy at the gym still swears by his $60 vegan blend but I dunno. Has anyone else cut out the supplements and just gone back to real food?

You mentioned "real food" and that's what got me thinking about my own switch. My wife started making me a bowl of oatmeal with a scrambled egg mixed in before my morning walks, and I haven't touched a shaker bottle in two weeks.

Did a buddy of yours try this too? My friend Mark was pretty diehard about his protein shakes for years, but his wife started making him a breakfast bowl with plain Greek yogurt, some chopped almonds, and a sliced banana before his bike rides. He told me last week he actually feels less bloated and doesn't crash mid-morning anymore.
