Can we talk about buying pre-chopped frozen onions?

I spent $4.50 on a bag last week thinking it would save time, but the texture was so soggy in my chili that I ended up having to chop a fresh one anyway, so was it really a waste of money or just a bad batch?

What was the last thing you bought that felt like a total waste? I just dropped like eighty bucks on a fancy kitchen gadget I've used once lol.

$4.50 for a bag of frozen onions that turned into mush in your chili? That's a crime against chili honestly. @perez.barbara I feel like you and I both have a talent for wasting money on things that seem like a good idea at the time. Frozen onions are tricky because they release so much water, you basically get steamed onion water instead of any real texture. My rule now is only use them if the recipe is going to cook down for hours anyway, like in a slow cooker stew. Otherwise it's just sad soup with onion ghosts floating around.
