Warning: A pitmaster's uninvited tips at a family reunion

At our reunion, a cousin brought his pitmaster friend who kept correcting how we cooked burgers. It made everyone nervous and the meat dried out from overthinking. When does helpful advice become too much?

Those unsolicited pitmaster tips just turned your family into his free cooking class.

That bit about the meat drying out from overthinking is so real. I heard a chef say once that too many tips just mess with the cook's groove. Why can't some people just let others do their thing? It turns a simple meal into a stressful test. Family time should be about laughing, not perfect burgers.

Isn't it crazy how some people just can't turn off the teacher mode? Like what the_keith said about messing with the cook's groove, it's like they forget the whole point is to hang out and eat together. That pressure to perform turns a chill barbecue into a live cooking show nobody asked for. Suddenly you're worried about grill marks instead of just talking with your cousins. The food always tastes worse when it's made in a stress cloud anyway.
