Overheard a guy at a comp say he uses a leaf blower to start his fire, and I nearly choked on my brisket.
I was at a small cookoff in Missouri last Saturday, standing in line for a pulled pork sample. This dude two tents over fires up a gas-powered leaf blower and aims it right at his charcoal chimney. Sparks flew everywhere, ash cloud covered half the pit area. He said it 'saves him 10 minutes' over waiting for lighter cubes. I get wanting efficiency but that felt like a hospital trip waiting to happen. Has anyone else seen some truly reckless fire starting methods at events?

Had a buddy try this at a backyard cookout once, sent a hot coal straight through his neighbor's screen door. Heard the yelling from three houses away, never seen someone shut down a grill setup that fast.

Figure it was a charcoal chimney starter and not a propane grill, right?
