Why does nobody mention that a $12 Wahl trimmer can beat a $200 clipper for fades?
So here's the argument I keep having with the other guys at the shop in Amarillo. I used to swear by the big expensive clippers. Spent $200 on a set 3 years back because that's what everybody says you gotta do. Then my backup trimmer died and I grabbed a cheap Wahl at a Walmart for $12 just to get through a Saturday.
Now side one says the pricey stuff is worth it. Better motor, stays cool, holds up after 40 heads a day. That's fair.
Side two says most of us are paying for a name. My $12 trimmer has done maybe 300 fades now and it still cuts clean. I just swap the blade when it drags.
So which is it? Am I fooling myself and this thing is gonna quit on a busy Friday, or have we all been sold a bill of goods? What's your actual experience with cheap vs pricey tools?

Reminds me of when I bought a used lawn mower for fifty bucks off a guy in a parking lot. Everybody told me it would die in a month and I needed a Honda. Ran that thing for six summers, just changed the oil and sharpened the blade. My neighbor with his fancy mower had it in the shop twice in that same time. Point is, the cheap stuff can surprise you when you take care of it, but the day it quits is always the day you got a full book. Your trimmer might cut great for 300 fades and then the motor just gives out mid cut on some guy's head. The pricey clippers are more about not leaving you hanging when it matters. Keep the cheap one as backup but dont toss the good set just yet.
