Watched a barber in Miami work with a straight razor on a dude with crazy coarse hair

He spent a solid 10 minutes just stropping between passes. Made me rethink how lazy I get with prep work. Anyone else notice razor work getting more popular at shops down south?

Man that part about him spending 10 minutes stropping really got me. I used to watch my grandpa shave with a straight razor and he did the same thing, took forever with the leather strap between every pass. It's funny you mention barbers down south getting into straight razors again. My buddy in Houston told me his shop has waiting lists for the guys who do the old school hot towel and razor shaves. Coarse hair is no joke with those blades either. I tried doing touch ups with a shavette at home once and it was a disaster, my neck looked like a war zone for a week.

90% of the shavette disasters I've heard about, including yours @abbyr96, come from guys not using a prep routine like the old timers did.
