Vent: I thought those $80 Japanese shears were just hype until I cut my first fade with them yesterday.

The difference in how they glide through thick hair compared to my old pair is insane, so has anyone found a more affordable brand that comes close to that feel?

Ugh, tell me about it. I read a barber blog that broke down why the steel and the edge angle on those pricier shears just can't be matched by most cheap ones. They said once you feel that proper slide, there's no going back. I tried a mid-range pair from a beauty supply store that was okay, but it still tugged on wet hair. You might just be stuck chasing that feeling now.

My cousin is a stylist and she let me try her $300 shears once. The cut was so clean it felt like the hair wasn't even there. I bought a $40 pair online after that and they snag on everything, even after a sharpening. It's ruined me for doing my own bangs now. I totally get being stuck chasing that perfect slide.
