Vent: A client said my fades looked too 'harsh' and it made me rethink my whole approach
Honestly, a regular named Mike told me last month, 'Your fades are clean, but the line is too sharp, it looks painted on.' I always aimed for that super crisp line as a sign of skill. I spent a week practicing softer blending with my clippers, using more of the lever and less pressure. Ngl, my cuts look way more natural now, and I'm getting more requests for them. Has anyone else had a client push them to soften their style?

Wow, that's a tough piece of feedback to hear. So do you think chasing that perfect crisp line was actually holding you back from a better overall look? Sounds like it worked out for the best.

Man that whole "style crutch" thing really hits home doesn't it? I spent like two years obsessing over getting my eyeliner wings perfectly sharp on both sides and it drove me nuts. Eventually I realized the rest of my look suffered because I was spending 20 minutes on just the liner.

What if crisp lines are just a style crutch?
