Tried to fix a squeaky barber chair with WD-40, spent 4 days ordering the wrong parts

Chairs been squeaking for weeks, customers keep flinching every time I lower it. I figured a quick spray would do it. Nope. Turns out the gas lift was shot, not the hinges. Ordered a replacement lift off Amazon, got one for the wrong chair model, my chair is a 2004 Belmont and the part was for a newer model. Returned it, ordered again, third time was the charm but now I know way too much about chair hydraulics. Anyone else ever go down a rabbit hole fixing a chair that should have just been left alone?
