Switched my shop from hot lather to a cold rinse before the shave and I can't decide if I'm crazy
Did a cold water rinse on the face right before lathering for 3 weeks straight at my chair in Akron and about half my regulars said the shave felt closer, but two guys complained it was uncomfortable. The lather didn't sit as warm so I had to work it faster before it cooled off. Now I'm torn on whether it's a real improvement or just a different feel people aren't used to. Any of you try a cold prep and stick with it, or did you go back to hot towels?
That "lather didn't sit as warm" thing is real. Buddy of mine runs a chair in Dayton and tried the cold rinse for a month, said his older customers loved it but the guys with sensitive skin bailed. He ended up doing cold rinse first, then a quick warm towel on top. Kept the closer feel without the complaints.
