Showerthought: Used to think clipper oil was just a way to upsell, but after 6 months of neglecting my Andis Master they started chattering like crazy.

What finally convinced me was when I took the blades apart and saw all this gunk and rust, and a quick clean and oil brought them back to life, has anyone else had a tool they dismissed that turned out to be essential?

Haha right, turns out basic maintenance isn't a scam after all.

Man that's rough, I feel you. Same thing happened to me with a pair of Wahl clippers I'd been using for years. Thought they were just done, ready to toss them in the trash. Then a buddy showed me how much crap builds up in there, and after a good cleaning they ran like new. It's almost embarrassing how long I went without doing basic upkeep. Feels like a rite of passage for anyone who uses clippers regularly.

Wait, how often are you supposed to clean them before it becomes a problem?
