Just realized I spent almost 4 months trying to fix a dull clipper blade by cleaning it instead of just replacing it
I kept thinking the blade was gummed up from product buildup but after oiling, brushing, and even soaking it in alcohol like 8 times, a new $15 blade fixed everything in 2 minutes, has anyone else gone way too long messing with a blade that was just dead?

The REAL problem is that people don't check for bent or warped blades either. Cleaning is for buildup but a blade that's actually dull or misaligned from hitting a hard surface is DONE. I had a pair of clippers I fought with for weeks before I noticed the blade had a tiny chip near the edge that I couldn't even see without a magnifying glass. Once I swapped blades, it cut like brand new. So much wasted time on something that was toast the moment I dropped it on tile.

Tess that bit about the tiny chip you couldn't see without a magnifying glass really hits home. How do you even catch something like that without just swapping every blade that feels off? Ive got a couple of old clippers I keep thinking are just dirty but maybe theyre actually chipped like yours was.
