I used to think the 'fade first' rule was gospel until a shop in Atlanta changed my mind
About two years back, I was filling in at a busy spot off Peachtree Street, and the head barber there, a guy named Leo, did every cut by starting with the top. He said it sets the shape and the fade just follows. I watched him do it on maybe 15 guys that day, and the results were just as clean, maybe cleaner. Now I start with the top on about half my clients, especially if they want a lot off the length. It just gives me a better guide. Anyone else work from the top down, or is that still a crazy idea around here?

@eva_garcia56 fair point about the flow lol. Starting with the top just clicks for me on certain cuts. The result ends up cleaner if the length is getting chopped way down.

Haha yeah I get that, a messed up flow is the worst. What part of your routine are you most worried about getting thrown off? Is it the timing or just the whole vibe of it?
