Had to pick between two clipper brands for my kit last month

I was down to either Wahl or Andis for my new cordless clippers. After reading reviews for 3 days straight I went with the Wahl Seniors because a buddy swore by them. First week they kept bogging down on thick wet hair which really threw me off. I swapped to the Andis Master after returning them and the torque difference was night and day. Has anyone else found certain clippers just don't handle specific hair types well?

Oh man, I gotta jump in here. I think you might have mixed up the models a bit. The Wahl Seniors are actually known for having a weaker motor compared to the old Wahl 5 Star Seniors, but the Andis Masters are a different beast entirely. The Masters have that magnetic motor that gives them way more torque for thick coats, but they do run hotter and louder. It's not really about the brand being bad, it's about picking the right tool for your specific hair type. Wet, thick hair needs that extra power or you'll just fight with the clippers the whole time.

Bring up how nobody talks about how the clipper blade itself makes or breaks the experience... I swapped from the standard Wahl blade to a ceramic one and it cut through wet hair like butter even with the weaker motor. The Andis Masters come with those heavy duty blades stock so you get that torque advantage right out of the box. But if someone already has the Wahl Seniors sitting around, throwing a decent blade on there might save them the return hassle. I feel like most people just blame the motor when the blade gap and material are doing half the work.
