Can we talk about the before and after on my fade game after switching to a zero gapper?
I swear I was doing decent fades for like 2 years but something always looked off. Then last month I watched a barber from Atlanta demo a zero gapper on his clippers and decided to try it myself. The difference was insane right away. My first fade after using it came out smoother and the blend from skin to top looked way more natural. No more harsh lines or patchy spots near the bottom. The trick was setting the gapper just right so it didn't chew up the hair but still got close enough for that clean look. I used a Wahl Detailer with the gapper and it changed my whole approach. Has anyone else had a big jump in their work after adding a small tool like that?

Drop a little bit of clipper oil on the gapper blade before each use and it'll run even smoother, trust me. I messed up a few fades when mine grabbed the hair until I figured that out. Makes a huge difference if you're doing tight skin fades every day.

Flip it around and say the zero gapper is overrated. I tried one on my Wahl Detailer for a month and actually went back to just using a trimmer for the bottom line. You can get the same clean blend if you just practice more with your regular clipper and a good trimmer. The gapper leaves me with more irritation on sensitive skin, especially if you're not careful with the pressure. @tara_palmer is right about the oil, but even then I get a better finish freehand.
