Can we talk about how we all trust our clipper guards way too much?
I always thought my 1 guard was a 1 guard until I lined up all my guards on the counter at home 3 months ago and saw my "1" was cutting closer than my "0.5." A guy named Dave who has been cutting 20 years sat next to me at a barber class in Phoenix and said, "Your fade is only as good as your worst guard," and that got me checking all of them. Sure enough, two of my guards were off by a full millimeter after a year of drops and cleaning. Now I check every guard against a ruler before a big cut, and it costs me 2 minutes. How often do you all actually measure your guards instead of trusting the number on the plastic?
