Bought a $240 clipper off a guy retiring in Columbus, and my cuts have never looked cleaner
I was shopping around for a backup pair last fall and this older barber who was closing up his shop in Columbus sold me his used clipper for $240, which felt like a lot for something that had already seen years of work. I almost walked away, but he let me run it across my own arm first and the motor was so quiet and smooth I couldn't say no. Fast forward to now and it's the tool I reach for on every fade, the blade stays true and it never pulls or grabs, which was always my biggest gripe with the cheaper set I started out with. My old one cost me about $70 and I was replacing blades every couple months, so in hindsight the used one has probably already paid for itself. Your mileage may vary since buying secondhand is always a gamble, and I got lucky the guy was honest about the shape it was in. Curious if anyone else here has bought gear off a retiring barber, and did it work out for you or bite you?
