Used to think fading was just about getting a clean line. Seeing how a bad fade messes up the whole look changed my mind completely.

Started watching tutorial videos on YouTube that walked through the whole process step by step. Found a barber named VicBlends who breaks down fading really simply. Practiced on a mannequin head for a few weeks before touching anyone's actual hair. That practice saved me from messing up my brother's haircut for sure.

Gotta admit I used to think fading was just moving the clipper up and hoping for the best. Thought a clean line was all that mattered and everything else would just fall into place. But after messing up a few times and really paying attention to how shadows and blends work, I get it now. One bad fade can totally ruin an otherwise good cut, makes the whole thing look off balance. It's wild how much a smooth transition changes everything compared to just a straight line.
