A tough call I had to make with a regular client last week
I remember when clients used to listen to our advice on what suits them. Last week, a regular came in wanting a hard part shaved into his thinning hair. I knew it would highlight the thin spots and look worse in a few days. I had to choose between doing what he asked or sticking to what I knew was right, and it left me feeling stuck.

Have you thought about how refusing could make him respect you more later? Like when a pro gives honest advice instead of just saying yes. If you explain the hair growth and thin spots, he might get why it's a bad idea. He could be mad now, but later when his hair looks worse, he'd blame you. Standing your ground shows you care about his look, not just the cash. That kind of rep brings in better clients.

Yeah, it's the same with any skill. People want the easy yes until they see the bad result, then they want the honest no you should have given.

Heard a barber say 'no' builds trust faster than a bad yes.
